Michael works on ethics and the history of philosophy. He has published numerous articles oncontemporary issues in bioethics, and he is the author of two books on the foundations of morality — The British Moralists on Human Nature and the Birth of Secular Ethics (Cambridge University Press,2006) and Humean Moral Pluralism (Oxford University Press, 2014). Gill is Head of the Philosophy Department and a long-time member of the Medical Ethics Committee at the University of Arizona. He received his Ph.D in Philosophy from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1995 and has been on the UA faculty since 2003.
