Jeff's full time role at the University of Arizona is the manager of administration in the English Department, also in the College of SBS. Prior to working for the university, Jeff served two consecutive terms as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) member at the United Way of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, AZ. As an Advanced-level IRS-certified tax consultant, Jeff managed the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program for two years, helping to earn more than $6 million in free refunds for over 5,000 individuals and families across Coconino, Navajo and Apache counties—with a focus on supporting Native American populations.
In addition to his seasonal support for the United Way of Northern Arizona and his current role in the English Department, Jeff works with the Center for Compassion Studies as a meditation facilitator. Jeff is particularly interested in the relationship between mindfulness meditation, plant medicines and the mitigation of trauma with a focus on empathy-invoking experiences and relaxation techniques. Jeff received a B.A. in English Literature and a B.A. in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
